Well, it had to come to an end sooner or later. It was a great Summer and Fall. The fishing was the best ever. Together with friends we caught and landed 274 Bass, Pike and Pickerel. Now it's time to say goodnight to the boat and we'll see it again next May.
Tuesday was one of those days where the sun was shining, the lake was calm, the fall colours were beautiful, and the temperature made it up to 28 C. However; the fishing was very slow. I only caught 1 fish. It was a 2.3 lb Smallmouth Bass, caught on a pumpkin coloured tube jig.
I went fishing with Peter on Sparrow Lake yesterday and we caught a total of 12 fish. 2 Pike, 4 Largemouth, and 6 Smallmouth. Biggest Pike was a long and skinny 4 lb. Biggest Largemouth was 2.1 lb. Biggest Smallmouth was 2.3 lb. Most fish were caught on a black and white tube jig. One Smallmouth was caught on a rainbow Bass Assassin and one other was caught on a double bladed white spinnerbait.
Once again yesterday was a beautiful day out on the lake. There was a total of 5 Smallmouth Bass caught. Unfortunately, none of them would qualify as a big fish of the day. So; back in time we go. The date was July 31 2005. Caught. weighed, & released was a 2.1 lb Smallmouth Bass, a 3.0 lb Smallmouth Bass, and a 3.1 lb Pike. All were caught on #3 Mepps lures of various colours.
After fishing for 6 hours on a beautiful Sunday ( Sept 18 2005 ) I could not catch a big fish. I did catch several small bass and saw lots of little pike. So, in order to post a big fish of the day, I will take you way back in time. July 24th to be exact. This Smallmouth Bass was caught on a " Fire Tiger " Blue Fox Super Vibrax spinner. The bass weighed in at 2.5 lb.
Big fish of the day is a huge 4.3 Smallmouth Bass. Once again this one was caught on a #3 Black Fury Mepps. ( black with red spots ) This bass was caught in very shallow water and put on a great show jumping time and time again until finally landed. Great fight.
Once again another Smallmouth Bass over three pounds is the big fish of the day. It weighed in at 3.3 lb and was caught on a # 3 Rainbow coloured Mepps. Several Largemouth Bass have been caught in the last few days. All of them are very small, but maybe they are making a come back in Lake Muskoka and next year hopefully one will be " Big Fish of the Day "
Big fish today was a 4.0 lb Pike. It was caught on a Mepp's # 3 Black Fury with red spots. Big Smallmouth Bass was an awesome 3.8 lb. It also was caught on a Mepp's # 3 Black Fury with red dots.
