July 25 2007-Crane Lake (Part 3)

Well we didn't catch any Musky yesterday; but there is always today! Day 2 started off with a small Bass. And another small Bass.
And another small Bass.
And another small Bass.
And 2 more small Bass. By the way, all fish today were caught by Udo. I got no fish in the boat. However, Udo was kind enough to allow me to hold up some of his fish so that at least I could post some pictures of me in my own blog. No Musky's today! Next year.

July 24 2007-Crane Lake (Part 2)

First fish of the day was caught by Udo. A monster 14 1/ 2 inch Smallmouth Bass. We named this one " Dinner". It looked like so much fun that I decided to catch one too!
And another one!
Good heavens, another one! We caught 9 Smallies in a very short time using only worms. Udo caught 6 and I caught 3. We also lost a few each. The action was fast and a lot of fun!
And here is another picture of "Dinner"

July 18 2007-Surrounded by Beauty!

Wow! What a week! This week I have been surrounded by beauty. Yesterday Heather joined me for a day of fishing & today Kelly came aboard. Here is Kelly posing for a picture just before heading out into the wild blue yonder. And a beautiful day it was! Our morning got off to a bit of a late start. Kelly left her fishing licence at home & we had to drive back to Fraserburg to get it. I guess that made her hungry.
Fish on!
Kelly has landed her biggest Smallmouth Bass ever! Almost a whole 2 lb. She also managed to land another Bass just slightly smaller but it cleverly jumped from her grip onto the floor & out the front door before any photos were taken. We figured it was just camera shy. Wenona II added to the already beautiful scenery as it went by the livingroom window!

July 17 2007-1 Big Bass & 1 Big Pike

Today I took Heather fishing. It was her first time out this year.
Well, she hasn't lost her touch. Her first & only fish of the day was an awesome Pike, 31 inches long & weighed 7 lb 8 oz. Heather also claims that this is her biggest Pike ever! Way to go Heather!

My Pike was a baby compared to hers. This little puppy was 24 inches long & only weighed about 3 lb. I did however managed to catch a couple of Smallmouth Bass. The first one was 16 1/4 inches long & wieghed 2 lb 4 oz.Did I mention that I was able to catch my biggest Smallie of the year! This brute was 4 lb 14 oz. My goal is to catch one over 5 lb. I was close but no cigar!

July 10 2007 - And Then,And Then,And Then

And so today I went out fishing with Maggie.
And then I caught a Smallmouth Bass weighing 1 lb 10 oz. And then I caught a Pike weighing 3 lb 4 oz.And then I caught a Smallmouth Bass weighing 4 lb 10 oz.

And then I caught a Smallmouth Bass weighing 4 lb 1 oz.
And then I caught a Smallmouth Bass weighing 4 lb 7 oz.
And then I went home!

What an amazing morning! I also lost a Smallmouth weighing around 3 lb & another one weighing around 4 lb. Both these fish were able to spit out the lure during one of many impressive jumps right beside the boat. I also lost 2 rather large Pike. One sheared off the line & took my favourite lure while the other managed to shake loose.

Holy Cow!

July 4 2007-Another Big Pike & Bass

Another day out on Lake Muskoka. Once again I was joined by my no good brother-in-law Andy & my sister Kathy. Just like yesterday I started the morning off by catching a small Pickerel. Kathy decided that if I could catch a small fish, so could she. Here is a cute little Smallmouth Bass.
Then she decided to catch a bigger fish. Here is Andy holding up her 5lb 4 oz Pike! I think that is her biggest fish ever! Did I mention that it started to pour? There goes my theory that the fish don't bite in the rain because they don't like to get wet!
Andy decided that if Kathy could catch a big one so could he! He caught this big Smallmouth Bass weighing 2 lb 12 oz. Once again all fish were caught on Mepps.
Finally, here is a picture of Andy's Blue Heron! ????? I guess you had to be there!

July 3 2007-Brad & Cheryl ( Part 2 )

And then we began day 2 of Brad & Cheryl's holidays.
And then I caught a small pickerel trolling a short distance from the dock. And then Brad caught a small Bass shortly after that. We still hadn't left the Bay yet!
And then Cheryl caught the biggest fish of her life! This Pike was 34 1/2 inches long & weighed in at 10 lb 12 oz. Well done Cheryl!
And then Brad caught a nice 5 lb 0 oz Pike.
And then I caught a very respectable 8 lb Pike!
And then it was all over.
All fish were caught trolling.
All fish were caught on Mepps.
And then we went home.

July 2 2007-Brad & Cheryl (Part 1)

Brad & Cheryl are on holidays this week and decided to come to beautiful Muskoka for a few days of fun & fishing. At least the weather was much nicer this time & we were able to leave the dock. Everyone wave at the camera! First fish of the day belongs to Cheryl. This Smallmouth Bass was only 1 1/2 lb but put up a spunky battle.
Brad managed to catch a couple of nice Pike! One was 3 1/2 lb and the other was a little smaller. It came in at 31/4 lb.
My only fish in the boat was a little Smallie. It was maybe 1 lb. We all managed to lose a couple of fish before they joined on the boat. We never count the fish that never came aboard for a photo.
Here I am holding up Brad's 3 1/4 lb Pike. Stay tuned for tomorrows action.

July 1 2007-A Very Sad Day

Very good friends of mine, Judy and Udo, lost their dog, Brindie to an unfortunate traffic accident the other evening. They immediately rushed her to the vet clinic but were unable to save her.
She was their friend, their constant companion, and their family member for 11 years. She is missed by all those who knew her.
