June 24 2009-Another Big Smallmouth

A somewhat rare morning in Muskoka. The sun is shining and the temperature is warm for a change. Today I am fishing with Udo. We hadn't been out very long when Udo hooked into this cute little fella. About 13" long.

Shortly after that Udo caught another Smallmouth Bass. This one however was huge! It was a little over 20" long and weighed a nice 4lb 4oz.

I couldn't catch any fish of my own, so Udo was kind enough to let me hold up his fish for a photo shoot. Nice fish!

To finish off our morning, we had a visit from the OPP. It was very nice of them to stop by and say hello!

June 23 2009-All Alone

Everyone was busy, so I " had " to go fishing all alone! I started fishing along the shoreline with no success until I reached some docks. And there they were! I caught 2 Smallies under one dock. Both were pretty small, but it was a start. Under the next dock there was only about 8 " of water, but there was one big Smallie. This one was 18" long long and weighed 3lb 4 oz. Nice!

This one was caught in open water near the red marker bouy. It was 14" long.

Back to the docks and I pulled out another one. This was another nice fish. It was 16" long and weighed 2 lb 4 oz.

Before heading back to the marina I managed to catch another couple of small ones. All together I was able to land 8 Smallmouth Bass and lose a few others. All were live released! I have no idea where the Pike went.

June 22 2009-Pollen & a Beautiful Sunset

Joanne and I went out fishing after work to see if there were any big fish waiting to be caught. We have never seen so much pollen. The lake was covered. The boat and motor was covered in pollen. The pollen so thick you were lucky if you could see more than 6 inches into the water.

There were no fish to be caught. On the way back to the dock we witnessed one of the most beautiful sunsets.

June 18 2009-Another One Off the Dock

Down to the dock after dinner for a little fishing and relaxation. After a few casts I managed to hook into this monster 22" Pike. It was of course released so it could grow up into a real monster, not just a wanna be! Ok Joanne. Your turn. ***** Not tonight *****
On the way home we drove by a big field of Lupins. Wow, what a beautiful show of colour!

June 17 2009-Pickerel Fishing with Casey

Today Casey and I hopped into his tin boat to fish the South Branch of the Muskoka River for a few Pickerel before they head out to the main lake.First fish to the boat was a 25" Pike.

Casey has one on!

Nice Pike! This one was 26" long and gave him a good battle on light line and tackle.

Last fish of the morning was a 24" Pike. I don't know where the Pickerel went, but it was still a great outing!

June 14 2009-4th Month Anniversary

Today Joanne and I celebrated 4 months together. We celebrated with flowers and a card. And Mr. Tree Face.

Speaking of flowers, our Poppy plant decided to help celebrate by opening up its first bloom on the same day.

Afterwards we went done to the dock and caught a little baby Pike.

June 12 2009-Great Day of Fishing

Another day of our holidays and we are spending the day fishing. The weather was great and so was the fishing. We started the day off with a couple of small bass. Here is Joanne holding up a nice 16" Smallmouth Bass. This one weighed 2 1/4 Lb.

Not long after that we managed to hook into this big Smallie. This beauty was 20" long and weighed in at 4 lb 2 oz.

Even Joanne wanted to hold up this fish!

To close out a great day of fishing we caught a couple of Pike. One was a baby 22" long and the last fish of the day was 24 1/2 long and was about 3lb. Can't always catch a lot of fish in one day, but we did today!
