June 27 2007-3.8lb Smallie

Once again Rick and I headed out into the hidden depths of the sea. Well, Lake Muskoka! First fish of the day was a little Smallie----- -----and another little one-----
-----and another little one-----
-----and a big one! This Smallmouth Bass was 3lb 8oz and was caught on a Blue Fox.
And here is a Pike that liked that lure too! It only weighed 2 1/2lb but it decided to go home with me and join me for dinner!
We also caught a few other small bass and Rick lost a nice Pike beside the boat.

June 26 2007- 2 More 3lb+ Smallies

Another day of fishing with Rick on the Walkabout on beautiful Lake Muskoka. Our morning started off with a small Pike ( too small for a photo ) followed by a small Bass.

Then along came Miss Piggy! She topped the scales at 3lb 1 oz.
This chubby 1 1/2 lb Smallie was 1 of 3 all about the size. I caught a total of 6 fish & all were caught on a #3 Mepps ( black with red dots )
This is Ricks Smallmouth Bass. It was long & skinny; but still came in at a chunky 3lb 12 oz. With a little more food this Bass could of made it over 4 lb with no problem. He caught this beauty on a #3 Fire Tiger Super Vibrax Blue Fox! Say that quickly 3 times!
What is this Blue Heron doing? Great shot huh?

June 19 2007-2 Pike & 2 Smallmouth Bass

Today Rick & I decided to take my boat & go hunting for some monster Pike. Notice how much the flowers have grown!

My first Pike of the day was not quite a monster. It was only 20 inches long & barely made the 1 1/2 lb mark. This little critter was caught on a # 5 red Mepps at the mouth of the Muskoka River.
Wow! My second fish was a huge 3 1/4 lb Smallmouth Bass. This was also caught on a #5 red Mepps. Caught this one on the big flats. Please note that Smallmouth Bass are out of season so it had to be released.
Holy Cow! Another big Smallie! Caught on the same #5 red Mepps. This puppy weighed 2 3/4 lb. Found this one swimming on the Udo Flats. My last fish of the day was a 27 inch, 4Lb Pike. Same lure. Picked this one up on the small flats. Also lost another big Smallie & a couple of smaller Pike. Rick had on a nice Smallmouth Bass but the handle on his reel broke off & he lost the fish in the process of trying to bring the fish in by hand.

June 10 2007-Kathy & Andy

Day 7 of my holidays (also the last day of my holidays ) was spent fishing with my no good brother-in-law Andy & my sister Kathy. The weather on the last day of my holidays sure was a whole lot better than the first day!
Andy had the first bite of the day, but it managed to escape before coming aboard the boat.
Kathy had the next 2 bites, but they too were camera shy & managed to make a clean get-away.
However; we did not go hungry. Lunch was supplied by Kathy. All in all it was a great day to be out on the lake!

Day 5 of my holidays saw warmer weather & a lot less rain ( I took day 4 off to work around the house & yard ). Only caught 1 Pike. This little Pike only measured 23 inches----- ----- & weighed only 2 1/2 lb. It was caught on a #3 Mepps, black with red dots.

June 6 2007-1 Bass,2 Pike

Day 3 of my holidays started off damp & very chilly. So I played around the house & my garden until the sun started to peek out & the temperature came up a few degrees.
I started off using a #3 fire tiger Blue Fox super vibrax lure & on my second cast I caught my first Smallmouth Bass of the season. Unfortunately, it was very small & out of season so I let it go. On my 6th cast (using the same lure) I caught this 20 inch-1 1/2 lb Pike.
4 casts later I caught this 23 1/2 inch-3 1/4 lb Pike. That was the last fish. Not bad, 3 fish in 10 casts!
All 3 fish were live released.
This is a picture of a lily pad flower getting ready to open. I'll keep you posted.

June 5 2007-Another 3 lb Pike

Day two of my holidays: very cold, very windy, & very wet! At least we were rewarded with a little fishing action. It only took a few minutes to catch and land another 3 lb Pike! Brad with my monster Pike.
Did I mention it was cold, wet & windy? Brad was trying to land a Pike about 4 1/4 lb in these very difficult conditions. Unfortunately, it jumped out of the water one too many times & managed to spit the hook. We did however at least get a good look at it before it decided say good bye!
I also managed to hook into another huge Snapping Turtle. This baby was quite a bit bigged than yesterdays. It was only hooked in one claw & Brad expertly removed the hook without losing any fingers.
Cheryl was exhausted watching all this fast & furious action & took a few minutes to catch a couple of Z's.

June 4 2007- Pike (2 3/4,3,& 3 1/4)

First full day of my holidays was relatively warm & very wet! However; the fish were biting. The first Pike of the day was caught by me. It was 24 inches long & weighed about 3 lb. Did I mention this was caught on a Mepps? Second Pike of the day was caught by Leslie. This fish was 25 inches long & weighed in at about 3 1/4 lb.
Next catch of the day was caught by Leslie! Problem was it was a big Snapping Turtle. We were able to release this biggy to live & to bite someone elses hook another day!
Brad & Cheryl arrived a little later in the evening for a visit & a chance to catch a few biggies! Brad decided to fling out a Mepps or two and hooked into this fine 2 3/4 lb Pike! Did I say Mepps? Go figure.
Cheryl and I took advantage of Brad's Pike for a picture of the two of us. Don't we look great?

June 3 2007- 3 lb Pike

My holidays have officially begun! So down to the "Walkabout" I went with flowers in hand. I didn't put any flowers out last year & I really missed them. Now she looks happy & promises to find more fish. First fish she found was a 3 lb Pike swimming along side the dock. The was the only one of the evening, so I went home before the bugs got too bad.
