Aug 28 2007-Nice Pike

Another day out on beautiful Lake Musoka. And a beautiful day it was. First fish to the boat was this cute little Smallie. A big 13 1/2 inches tipping the scales at 1 lb 4 oz. Look at the colours on that one Henry! Second fish to come along was this slightly over sized Pike. Total length on this puppy was 34 inches. The weight was 8 lb 5 oz. Long and skinny and one heck of a good fight. Rick handled the netting.
Also had our first visitor of the season. Very friendly & no problems.

Aug 26 2007-The One & Only

Another Sunday night out fishing. I wouldn't have normally gone out by myself but the flowers needed to be watered & Maggie wanted to go for a boat ride! This was the one & only fish I caught. This Smallmouth Bass was 13 inches long & only weighed around 1 lb. However, I did get some great pictures of the moon rising while the sun was setting!

Aug 22 2007-3 Small Smallies

It was a damp, overcast, & a cool morning. First fish of the day was this cute little Smallie. Second one of the morning was 15 inches long & was 1 lb 10 oz.
The third bass was just a little smaller. This one was 14 1/2 inches long and weighed 1 lb 5 oz. I also caught another very small one & another little Largmouth Bass.
The weed beds are slowly starting to die off & as they do the bait fish leave taking the larger fish with them. I only have a couple of weeks left before I got to find a new "Hot Spot "

Aug 21 2007-Gary & Cole

Today I took Gary & his son Cole out for some fishing action! Cole caught the first fish of the day. This was his first of three Perch. As you can see he was using a #3 Mepps. ( black with red dots ) It seems even Gary was excited enough to get into the picture.
First Smallmouth Bass of the morning was a team effort. Cole reeled in this 14 inch, 1 lb 5 oz Bass & I did the netting job. Once again Gary was anxious to jump into the picture.
The second Smallie of the morning was another team effort! This time I reeled in the fish & Cole did the netting job. This fish was 17 1/2 inches long & weighed 3 lb 0 oz. How does Gary do it? He managed to sneak into another picture. Considering the fact he was unable to catch any fish he sure got his picture taken a lot!
What's this? Where is Gary? He must be taking the picture.

Aug 19 2007-Mr. Biggie

Is Sunday night fishing becoming the norm? Because here I am out fishing again after work on a Sunday. Notice the "red" shirt? I didn't even have the time to take it off before landing this little Smallmouth Bass. Tonight Rick has joined me to catch that elusive monster Bass! At least I managed to take off my "red" shirt before catching this 15 inch Smallmouth. This fish weighed 1 lb 10 oz.
Then along came Mr Biggie! Another Smallmouth Bass over 4lb. This one measured 19 3/4 inches & weighed 4 lb 7 oz. Wow!
Rick managed to catch a couple of Perch, a little Smallmouth, and a very little Largemouth. But he decided he would rather have his picture taken with my Mr. Biggie! He did after all handle the netting duties.

Aug 15 2007- Big Pickerel

A day out fishing with no company. Just me. Ah! The peace and quiet! And the fishing was great! First fish of the day is a 15 inch Smallmouth Bass weighing 1 lb 10 oz. Next fish of the morning was a beautiful 18 inch Bass. This one tipped the scales at 3 lb 5 oz.
Holy Cow! Next fish to come along is a huge Pickerel! She was 24 inches long & weighed 5 lb 2 oz. Not bad considering I wasn't even fishing for Pickerel. This baby came home with me to join me for dinner. This was my biggest ever!
Next in line to bite my lure was this 14 1/2 inch Smallie. Weighed in at 1 lb 5 oz.
What is this? Well it's my first Largemouth Bass of the year. It may not be big but it could be someday. It would be nice to see this species make a comeback. See you next week!

Aug 8 2007-Brad & Cheryl ( Part 2 )

Day two began with Cheryl needing a little more sleep. ( notice the bundle of blanket on the seat ) I started the day off with a very little Smallmouth Bass. A future 5 lb? A couple of hours later along came this 18 inch Smallie. It weighed 3 lb 4 oz.
Cheryl woke up in time to pose for a picture with this beauty.
A few minutes later I caught this 14 inch Smallmouth. This one weighed 1 lb 5 oz. It was a very unusual morning. Brad & Cheryl both were skunked!

Aug 7 2007-Brad & Cheryl ( Part 1 )

Once again Brad & Cheryl made the long trip to Muskoka to try their luck at catching the "Big One" So we started the morning off with me catching a 16 1/2 inch Smallmouth Bass. This puppy weighed 2 lb 8 oz. So Brad followed up by catching a respectable 16 inch Smallie weighing 2 lb 4 oz.
If one wasn't enough, he decided to catch another one also weighing in at 2 lb 4 oz.
Well if he can do it, so can I. Another 16 inch Smallmouth weighing 2 lb 4 oz.
And of course, Cheryl not to be out done, landed a 24 inch-3 lb Pike. We caught a total of 11 fish before heading home. We'll be back out tomorrow for more fishing action on " Dave's Fishing World"

Aug 5 2007-Another 4 lb Smallie

Once again ( 3rd time this summer ) I went out fishing with my no good brother-in-law Andy & my sister Kathy. This time we took a different approach. We tried some evening fishing & right away Andy caught a very small Pike! Shortly after that I managed to catch to catch a Smallmouth Bass 1 lb 8 oz. ( not shown )
Then I caught this monster 4lb 4 oz Smallie.

Only a few minutes later I caught another Smallie weighing 1 lb 6 oz (also not shown ) Two casts later I landed this Smallie weighing in at 1 lb 10 oz.

At this point Andy was wondering why I was catching all the Fish. He removed the leader from from his line & tied his Mepp's direct to get more lure action, and along came this 3 lb 4 oz Pike followed by a 1 lb 4 oz Smallmouth (not shown ) I guess improved lure action means improved fishing.
We finished the evening off with a 2 lb 2 oz Smallie just as it was getting dark & headed back to the marina. Unfortunated Kathy was unable to land any fish this trip. She did however managed the net and the picture taking duties. A total of 8 fish were caught in only a couple of hours.

July 31 2007-The Next Generation ( Part 2 )

After dropping Michael off from this mornings outing I zoomed back to the dock, drove home, had a nap, & waited for The Next Generation of little fishing girls. And here she is now!
This looks like a good spot! Any bites yet?

Since the fish aren't biting, we might as well have a bite. Even Corey got caught up in the excitement & decided to try his luck. Unfortunately the fish had other ideas & we went home without anything except more memories.

July 31 2007 The Next Generation-Part 1

Here we are, the last day of July. Where does the time go? Today I am heading over to Browning Island to pick up Michael. The Next Generation! Flowers look Great! First fish of the day was caught by Michael. It wasn't very big but it was still a thrill.
Looks like someone should be getting his boating license pretty soon.
A bigger Bass & a bigger smile.
Wow! Michael caught a 22 1/2 inch Pike. Now that was fun.
