Aug 16 2008-Udo on the Walkabout

Just for a change of scenery Udo and I decided to get together on a Saturday afternoon to go fishing on the " Walkabout "
The first fish of the day was a small bass caught by Udo. ( Sorry, no photo. )
The second fish of the day was also a small bass caught by me.
Udo has the first Pike of the day. What a battle!

This is Udo's Pike, not mine.
Did I mention that it was very windy out there? Because of the way the lake was rolling, I was feeling a little sick so we moved to slightly calmer area and the first thing Udo does is catch an awesome 18 inch Smallie weighing 3 lb 4 oz.
I finished the day off with a small Bass & homeward bound we went. Fun Day!

Aug 14 2008-Andy's New Boat ( Part 1 )

I have been waiting all Summer to go fishing with my no good brother-in-law on his new boat and the day has finally arrived. Nice boat.
We started the day off with a Pike. This fella was 28 inches long and weighed 5 lb 2 oz. Then I caught another Pike. It was way too small and the fish was way too camera shy for any photos. Then we fished for nearly 5 hours without any bites.
Andy, our fishing guide for the day, decided to go to his favourite spot and try our luck there. It was a lucky spot. Here is Andy with a 4 lb 4 oz Pike.
Stay tuned for more fish fishing action in Part 2.

Aug 14 2008-Andy's New Boat ( Part 2 )

Now that we know where the fish have been hiding all day, the rest was easy. Here is Andy with a cute 13 inch Smallmouth. Time for me to join in the fun. This fine little fella measured in at a big 14 inches.
Andy liked my little fella so much that he decided to catch a 14 inch Smallie as well.
They just keep on getting bigger. This time I caught a 15 inch Bass.
And bigger. The last fish of the day was a beautiful 18 inch Smallie tipping the scales at 3 lb 5oz. It's good to see that Andy's new boat knows how to catch fish.
After loading up the boat we headed back to the trailer for a couple of burgers. Great day! Great boat! Great company!

Aug 12 2008-Better Than Working

Brad had a few hours to kill before heading back home for a doctor's appointment. However, the fishing was really slow and we only caught a couple of small Pike. Although we didn't catch a lot of fish, it was still better than working!

Aug 11 2008-Oh Yah?

Brad has just finishing moving into a new apartment and decided to come up to Muskoka for a couple of days of fishing and relaxation.
He started his morning off with a monster Pickerel. It was now up to me to catch a monster fish. And here it is! A monster Pike.
Brad says " Oh Yah? " and catches a nice 28 1/4 inch Pike weighing 5 lb 6 oz.
I say " Oh yah? " and catch a very nice 18 1/2 inch Smallmouth Bass weighing 3 lb 9 oz.
And Brad says " Oh Yah? " and catches another nice Pike. This one was 28 1/2 inches and weighed 5 lb 10 oz.

July 29 2008-Crane Lake ( Part 1 )

This is my 3rd yearly trip to Crane Lake to go fishing with Udo. Here is a shot from the lake as we getting ready to begin docking proceedures. After unloading all my gear and a quick chit chat, Udo is ready to go fishing and catch the big one!
Within a couple of casts the fish began the arrive and it was all we could do to keep them from swamping the boat.
Even I had to get into the fun and catch some of these hard fighting fish.
Need to get out of the sun? Improvising cerainly has its advantages. However; it was very hot and we headed back to the cottage for shade and food & more chatting. See you tomorrow!

July 30 2008-Crane Lake ( Part 2 )

Today we got off to a bit of a late start. First of all it was raining! Second, I slept in until 9:00 am. I don't do that very often.
However; the fish were waiting for us & were biting like crazy! We caught and landed 19 Smallmouth Bass and had several others escape before joining us in the boat.
Here are some of the fish that came aboard to say Hello!

A great trip and hopefully we'll see you next year!
