July 20 2011-Happy Birthday MOM

We are heading down to Whitby to visit my mother and take her out to lunch to celebrate her 85th Birthday. On the way there we stopped in Brechin. There were cement statues everywhere!

Hundreds and hundreds of statues!

Believe it or not; we did not buy any for our gardens.

Happy Birthday Mom!

July 19 2011-Rick and Michael

I went out this evening with Rick and his grandson, Michael. First fish, a plump smallmouth Bass caught by Michael. Another, this one caught by Me and netted by Michael.

Another cast, and another Bass. This one was 16 1/2 inches.

Michael catches another nice Bass. We also caught several smaller Bass and a couple of small Pike.

Even Rick got in on the action and landed this hard fighting Perch!

July 5 2011-Boston Pizza

After fishing for a couple of hours, it's time to head to Gravenhurst for an early dinner at Boston Pizza. I hope our navigator knows the way there! The Lighthouse Narrows leading into Gravenhurst Bay.

Oops, traffic. One of the big steamships coming our way. It missed us!

Trouble, flowers overboard. A rather large boat cut in front of us and we were swamped. We lost both flower boxes and all our flowers. BASTARD!!!!

Finally, we reached our destination and had a great dinner.

July 5 2011-Day Trip

Today we are heading down to Gravenhurst Wharf for an early supper at Boston Pizza. Before we even left the dock I caught this little Pike! Out on the lake it was warm and calm and the fish were biting.

Joanne gets a little Bass. Check out her designer fishing gloves!

Another little one.

And a cute little Perch. We caught quite a few small fish and lost a few small ones. Nothing big! Off to Boston Pizza.

July 1 2011-2,600 Rubber Duckies!

After fishing, we made the hour long trek up the river to the Bracebridge Falls for the fireworks display and the annual Rubber Ducky race. This year they released 2,600 Rubber Duckies down the falls into the river. And here they come now! After a winner is declared, all the duckies must be scooped up so they can be used again next year.

Joanne has a net full.

It was quite a job. There were so many, and they headed downstream so quickly.

It took almost an hour, but we got 'em! We stayed and watched the fireworks from the comfort of our boat, then headed back to the marina in the dark. Even with the help of a spotlight, it was slow going and it took an hour and ten minutes to get to Allport! It was quite an adventure and a lot of fun!

July 1 2011-What A Difference!

What a difference a couple of days make. Last time we were out we were freezing. Today, sunny, warm and not too breezy. We only had a short time to fish, because we had to be at the Bracebridge Falls by 8:30 pm for the fireworks display. Our job there was to scoop up Rubber Duckies. I'll explain in my next post. In the meantime, a Perch!

A nice Smallmouth Bass!

And another! Time to go! See you next Post!

June 29 2011-Winter Fishing

Winter fishing? Well, maybe it's not winter, but it sure was cold! It was not only cold, it was also very windy!

At least we were rewarded for all our suffering and managed to catch a Pike. Hopefully summer will be here soon!
