Pike season is here! Joanne and I had to work today, so we went out for a couple of hours of evening fishing. We were not there very long before I hooked into this nice Bass. Because Bass season is not open yet, this fish was live released!
First Pike of the season! Not very big, but it is a Pike!
Joanne's first bite of the season. Ham on a bun!
Nice view of Allport Marina. It sure has expanded over the last couple of years!
Lots of pollen and lots of damage from all the flooding. Hundreds of cottages are going to need new docks this year. Lots of work for all the local contractors.

May 14 2013-Water Level Is Down
The water level is finally down enough to launch the "Walkabout" for another season of fishing. Once again, many thanks to Udo for all his help!
In the water we go!
We're in!
The boat is all dressed up and ready to go fishing!
As you can see, the water is still pretty high. After work on Saturday we are going to go out and see if the Pike are ready to play!

May 8 2013-It's Time!
It's that time of the year to get the "Walkabout" ready to go for another great year of fishing!
Step one-take off all the tarps. (We need a new tarp for next year)
Step two-Take down the frame.
Step three- Put up the top.
Step four-Put up the sides.
Step five-Check the water level at the marina.
The water level is still too high from all the flooding. Hopefully the water will drop and we can get the boat in next week. See you then!

April 23 2013-Bracebridge Flooding-Part 1
Due to extremely heavy rainfall, extremely high temperatures, and snow melting, Bracebridge was placed under a state of emergency. Here are a few pictures taken around the Bracebridge Falls.

March 13 2013-Ice Fishing Hut
It was much too cold and windy to go ice fishing today. So we got into the car and headed to Bass Pro Shop to see if we could get a portable ice fishing hut at a good price. Unfortunately they were sold out, so we had to settle for couple of new lures and a sweatshirt.
We ended up at the Walmart store in Bracebridge and found just what we were looking for. A pop-up portable ice hut at $100.00 off the suggested retail price. An Eskimo Quickfish 3!
Sets up in a matter of 4 minutes.
Lots of room for 3 people. Plenty of headroom even for taller people.
Joanne was so excited, she wanted to camp out in it!
Just need a portable heater and we're all set. Did I mention it only weighs 23 lb. Can't wait to try it out!
