Sept 16 2009-Wave at the Camera!

Todays fishing trip with Udo could be our last trip together this season. Udo needs to go in for major surgery at the begining of Oct and with his help we will be putting the Walkabout to bed for the winter. We will be using his truck to tow the new trailer and boat to his property for storage. In the meantime; wave at the camera! Once again the fishing was slow, but the company was great! The only fish we got on board was this cute Pike. Wave at the camera!

After dropping Udo off at the George Road dock, it's time to head home for a little celebration with Joanne. Wave at the camera!

Sept 15 2009-Fishing with Rick

After a great holiday in Newfoundland, it's time to go fishing! Before leaving to pick up Rick we noticed a visitor in the backyard helping to trim back the plants before winter. A beautiful morning for fishing. Someone forgot to tell the fish we were coming. Rick caught the only fish. It was not much bigger than the lure.

After fishing with Rick, Joanne and I decided to go to the Muskoka Wildlife Center. Most of the animals on display were very common and could be seen outside in the wild.

Here are two of my favourites. A Bear and a Cougar in the same enclosure checking each other out.

And a two legged critter. It is truly amazing what you can see at a Zoo.

Sept 9 2009-Yep! THAT'S ME!

We're back in Muskoka and we still have one more day off before returning back to work. Today we are meeting up with Daryl and Lian for a game of Golf. Did I say Golf? Yep, today is the last day we can spend with Daryl and Lian before they head home from their holidays. So we decided to go to Kirrie Glen for a round of Golf. Did I say Golf? Yep! What form. What concentration. What is this sport all about?

Here goes. Or should I say duck? Yep! That's Me! I'm supposed to hit that little white ball all the way up to the far treeline. I did, but it took a hundred shots. Yep! That's Me!

I think Joanne,Daryl and Lian are trying to decide how to get rid of me!

Yep! That's Me. All in all, a great day! If you knew my score, you would say that I should stick to fishing. If I could catch as many fish in one day as my score card indicated, there would be no more fish in Lake Muskoka. Yep! That's Me!

Sept 8 2009-Newfoundland Trip-Part 16

It is a happy but sad morning. Sad because this is our last morning in Newfoundland. Happy because we are on our way back to our home and our own bed.
We were greeted by a beautiful sunrise. Vivid pinks,purples,blues and even yellows. Picture perfect and you can see Cabot Tower in the background. This was always the landmark to guide us back to our hotel. One last look at the Battery Hotel.

Right back where we started a week ago. Entrance #13. This is the door we went in and the door we came out. Newfoundland was awesome. Thanks to Joanne, this was my best holiday ever. Thanks Joanne. I love you!

Sept 7 2009-Newfoundland Trip-Part 15

We continued on down the coast to visit more small villages and coves. The scenery was amazing.

Sept 7 2009-Newfoundland Trip-Part 14

After leaving Bay Bulls we decided to continue on down the coast and get off the main roads and see a few less commercialized points of interest. A lonely cannon looking out over a picture perfect bay and coastline. Old abandoned boats and buildings in need of repair.

Sept 7 2009-Newfoundland Trip-Part 13

And here we have another building all painted up to advertize another Whale Tour.After leaving the main dock, we went across to the other side of the bay to see what was happening there. Just behind Joanne you can see a couple of fishermen cleaning their morning catch.After a brief conversation with these friendly guys, they offered us a couple of filets to take home for dinner. We had to refuse due to the fact we had no place to cook them and we thanked them very much for the offer. Really great people in this Province.Before leaving Bay Bulls Harbour we stopped at a nearby gift shop and took a picture of an overview of the whole harbour.We decided to go into the gift shop and after some searching around, we found and bought our only souveneir. A Humpback Whale painted on a piece of slate.

Sept 7 2009-Newfoundland Trip-Part 12

This is the last full day of our holidays. Today we decided to head south down along the east coast. First stop, Bay Bulls Harbour. This busy little bay has several different tour boats to go Whale, Puffin and Iceberg sight seeing. There are also lots of commercial ships coming and going as well as small fishing boats. First things first! A Mermaid! I could not pass up a chance to fondle my first Mermaid!

Next thing we saw was a Jelly fish. I did not however try and fondle this one.

Many of the buildings had really neat wall murals advertising different Whale tours.

Sept 6 2009-Newfoundland Trip-Part 11

After we left Cape Spear, we decided to head north up the coast to a place called Middle Cove. Wow, what a great place to see. All along the shore are rocks, stones, and pebbles of all shapes and sizes and all brightly coloured. Just back a bit from the rocks the beach becomes sand. What a great place to have a camp fire and roast hotdogs and marshmellows. There several famillies all along the beach doing just that. However, there is no overnight camping.

The other side of this beautul cove is all cliff. Climbing to the top is out of the question. If you want to enjoy the view you have to hop into your car and drive up there.

While we were walking along the beach we found what I beleive to be a Sea Urchin. It was alive and I could feel it moving in my hand.

So we put it back on the beach close to the ocean and let the waves return it to its home. Look at the different colours of the stones. What a beautiful place to visit!

Sept 6 2009-Newfoundland Trip-Part 10

Did you hear about the two antenna's up on the roof of Mel & Jason's house? There they met and began to get to know each other. Eventually they fell in love and decided to get married. Well, the wedding ceremony was no hell, but the reception was great! Ha Ha!
The next day after the wedding, Joanne and I decided to make a side trip to Cape Spear ( The most Easterly point of North America ) The view was amazing! We could look out over the coast and see all the way back from where we came. If you look carefully, you can see the Cabot Tower on Signal Hill way back in St. John's. Here is a picture of the lighthouse and other buildings looking out over the Atlantic Ocean.

We also saw three Killer Whales quite a ways out in the water. It was Joanne's sharp eyes that saw them. Otherwise I probably would have missed them altogether.
