Fishing Fun-July 27 2006

It was time for a change of scenery. This time I went fishing with Udo at his cottage on beautiful Crane Lake.We started the day off with me catching a big Smallmouth Bass weighing 3 1/2 lb. These Smallmouth Bass seem to fight much harder and jump much higher than those out of Lake Muskoka. Great battle.We landed 14 Bass altogether. Three of them were around the 2 lb. weight & the rest were smaller. We kept 4 for dinner.Action shot. Udo has another one on. Great day!

Fishing Fun-July 23 2006

The morning started off with Brad catching a 1.9 lb Pickerel.It was overcast & raining when this fellow decided to bite.Out came the sun & the Bass started to bite. Here I am with a 2.8lb Smallmouth Bass. Here I am with a 1.9 lb Smallmouth Bass.
All Bass were released including the smaller ones. Brad took the Pickerel home to dinner.

Today I was in the company of Brad, Cheryl, & Leslie. However, it was Brad's day to shine. Here I am holding up his 2.5lb Smallmouth Bass.Brad also caught a huge 4.2 ( Yes, I said 4.2 lb. ) Smallmouth Bass. So far the biggest Bass of the year.

Fishing Fun-July 15 2006

The Perch were really aggressive this morning. However ; they were also really small.In addition to the really small Perch, I also caught & kept a 26 " Pike. It weighed 3.6 lb. We had this one for din-dins. My attempt at fileting this Pike was very successful. Hardly a single bone.Also caught another very nice Smallmouth Bass. It was 2.7 lb. And another nice one. This one was 2.8 lb.
Also had a very pleasant visit from a couple of lovely young women, giving away " Globe & Mail " newspapers as well as drink boxes & assorted fruit candy bars. All in all, a great day.

I went Lake Trout fishing again with Admiral Rick. This time we out in the evening to try our luck. Well, we caught 2 Lake Trout & 1 small Bass in a very short time before we ran out of daylight. It's nice to know that the fish are still there; even in the middle of July!

Fishing Fun-July 9 2006

Last day of my July holidays. Leslie decided to take a day off & catch up on some lost sleep. Brad came up instead to catch that "BIG" one. However; the day started off with a not so "BIG" one.Then Brad caught a 4 lb Pike measuring 22".Then I caught a 4 lb Pike measuring 23 1/2".
And then Brad caught a beautiful Smallmouth Bass. It weighed in at exactly 3.0 lb. This one measured 18".

Fishing Fun-July 8 2006

Today was bright, sunny, calm, & very hot. Not really ideal conditions for good fishing. But why do I continue to catch my biggest fish under these conditions? Here is a 2 1/2 lb Smallmouth.Here is the same fish again. It measured 18"This is my biggest Smallmouth of the year so far. It weighed in at 3 3/4 lb. This monster Bass was 20 " long & after a few photo shots swam away.

Fishing Fun-July 7 2006

Here we are again. This time I caught my first Pickerel of the year. It was caught on ( what else? ) a #3 black with red dots Mepps while trolling up the trough in Allport Bay. It weighed 2 1/2 lb & measured 20". It was a very good meal. I also caught a 5.1 lb Pike while trolling. It measured 30".
And I caught a 2 lb Smallmouth Bass.( 16" ).
We also caught several smaller fish.
Leslie's big fish of the day was a 2.2 lb ( 23" ) Pike.

Leslie and I went out again today & decided to troll for something different to do. I caught two Pike. This one is 28" long & weighs 4 1/4 lb. This one is a little smaller. It is 26 1/2" long & weighs 3 1/2 lb.
This is the same as the one above but Leslie wanted to be on todays Blog. Did I mention that these Pike were caught on a # 3 Mepps. Black with red dots ?

Another fine morning for fishing. As you can see; another fine fish. This Smallmouth Bass tipped the scales at 2 1/2 lb. Leslie didn't have a lot of luck this morning so we decided to post her picture with my fish.
