May 18 2009-Monster Pike Pics

After Joanne caught and released her first Pike ( see previous Blog ) we settled back and waited to see if there were any more Pike in the neighborhood!

And about an hour later along came a huge Pike and decided to make our evening a little more exciting. After a great battle the monster Pike was in the net and ready for a photo shoot!

She measured 41 inches long. We did not measure the girth. Probably should have, but we didn't want to keep her out of the water any longer than we had to.

After a quick weigh in ( did I mention this fish was 24 lb. ) she was released back into the lake to fight another day!Thank you Joanne for a great net job and taking all those photos. What a thrill!!!!!!

May 18 2009-Joanne's first Pike

Joanne and I went down to the boat Monday after work for a picnic supper and a little fishing off the dock. We hadn't been there very long when Joanne caught her first ever Northern Pike!

This monster Pike put up an amazing battle with Joanne screaming all the way. It measured 25 1/2 inches long and weighed 3lb 4 oz.

Back in the water to fight another day.

All gone! Way to go Joanne! May the next one be even bigger!

May 13 2009- Lake Trout Fishing with Casey

It was a clear, calm morning. Perfect conditions for trolling for Lake Trout.First time out this year with Casey. On the first pass, Casey hooked into this lovely 2 1/2 lb Laker. This fish ended up being supper for Joanne and I.
On the second pass, I managed to hook into this 4 lb 4 oz Lake Trout. This fish went home with Casey for his dinner.

On the third pass, I hooked into this 4 lb Laker. This fish went to Rick and Sandras for their dinner. We made a couple of more passes without any more bites, so we packed up and headed home. Total time spent on the water: 1 hour and 15 minutes.

May 12 2009-Fishing From the Dock

It was a beautiful sunny day, so Joanne and I decided that it was a good day to buy flowers for the boat and get them planted. Joanne supplied a couple of new ceramic planters. While we were down at the boat, Joanne wanted a few tips on casting and reeling.
During our lessons, along came a Pike to check and see if we were doing it right!

I guess we were doing something right. This almost monster Northern Pike measured 32 inches and weighed 8lb 3 oz. Joanne wasn't crazy about holding the fish up for photo shot. Something to do with all those big nasty teeth. She must be waiting for a bigger fish! This fish provided us with some excitement and entertainment. Time to say goodbye and hopefully catch it another day.

May 5 2009-The Walkabout is in the Water

I feel like dancing! The Walkabout is in the water and with the help from Joanne, we are ready to begin the 2009 season.

This is the best seat.

Somehow the best seat in the boat just looks better with Joanne sitting in it!

See what I mean?

Today the was weather was warm and the wind was calm as we set out on a three hour cruise to Gilligans Island.

April 25 2009-Meeting Campbell

I took the weekend off from work to travel to Ottawa with Joanne to meet the next generation of " fishermen ". We decided to drive through Algonguin Park to see if there was any wildlife around. Sure enough, a young bull along the side of the road supplied us with some very nice photos. Once in Ottawa it was down to business to meeting the " Little Man "
Excellent pictures of " Three Generations " Kinsley boys.

Don't Joanne and I make a beautiful couple?

Time for a little fun after the " Little Man " has gone to bed. After a good nights sleep, homeward bound.
Great weekend, great company and great food.
